Kathmandu. Oscar-winning Indian musician AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu are separating after almost three decades of marriage. Saira’s lawyer Vandana Shah issued a statement announcing the couple’s divorce and demanded privacy.
After some time, AR Rahman also confirmed this by sharing an emotional note on social media. After many years of marriage Mrs. Saira and her husband Mr. AR Rahman have taken the difficult decision to separate from each other. This decision comes after significant emotional stress in their relationship,” the statement said.
‘Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has discovered that stress and difficulties have created a gap between them that is not capable of being bridged at this time,’ the statement said. After the statement of the lawyer came out, AR Rahman also announced the divorce on social media.
Rahman writes, ‘It seems that everything ends in an invisible way. Even the throne of God can tremble under the burden of a broken heart. However, in this case, even if the pieces do not find their place, we search for meaning. Friends, thank you for respecting our privacy at this critical time.’
At the age of 27, AR Rahman married Saira on 12 March 1995. Saira was 21 years old at that time. It was a marriage arranged by AR Rahman’s mother. Both have two daughters Khatija, Rahima and a son Amin.
