Kathmandu. Screenplay Museum has officially started. Communication and Information Technology Minister Prithvisubba Gurung inaugurated the museum at a ceremony held at the Film Development Board on Wednesday.
On this occasion, 7 filmmakers and writers handed over the script to Minister Gurung. Kiki Adhikari, producer of the film ‘Boksiko Ghar’, Deepa Basnet, director of ‘Antral’, Dipendra Lama, director of ‘Nago Village’, Prakash Nepali, producer of ‘Dui Numbari’, Dipendra Lama, director of ‘Ciso Aboogbo’, Dipendra Lama, producer of ‘Kabaddi 4’, Rambabu Gurung. And ‘Chakkapanja 5’ director Deepashree Niraula handed over the script.
Minister Gurung presented the script to Board Chairman Dinesh DC. Chairman DC said that the received screenplay will be prepared as a digital archive. During the ceremony, 72 filmmakers were awarded special film worker identification cards.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Gurung said that the government is ready to implement the Film Act within a year. He stated that the drafting of the Act has been completed and will coordinate with Parliament, Law and the Prime Minister’s Office.
Stating that the country lost 3 billion due to the closure of Tik Tok, Minister Gurung said that the government is trying to make the country an IT hub. He said that Nepali films are ahead of Bollywood. He asked the filmmakers to give legislative suggestions under the Film Development Board.
Chairman DC said that he had been invited by 3 programs that were going to be held abroad and that he would not go there. He said that the work of 2 years will be completed in 6 months. He also said that Radio Nepal, Nepal Television, National News Committee and Gorkhapatra are going to publish and broadcast free promotional content and programs of Nepali films.
He also said that he is preparing to visit movie halls across the country soon. Chairman DC also said that the National Film Awards will be held on 12th November. He said that he is going to make a one-door policy to be provided by the drone license board. He also said that he will not participate in the film program including premiere and trailer release.
