‘Nepal Festival’ in Sydney, Chief Minister Minns said – unity and harmony should be learned from Nepalese

Sydney. ‘Nepal Festival-2024’ has been organized in Sydney, Australia. The Non-Resident Nepalese Association of Australia has been organizing the festival every two years.

This time ‘Nepal Festival’ was organized in the premises of Darling Harbour, which is considered the center of Sydney. Thousands of Nepali national flags were hoisted and dressed in dhaka caps, daura-suruwals and sarees and participated in the parade. On that occasion, a parade was also taken out with Nepali baja and tableaux.

Kalyan Khadka, Secretary of the Non-Resident Nepalese Association of New South Wales State, said that the Nepal Festival was organized with the aim of promoting Nepali art and culture through tourism. Due to the cultural parade that started from the Town Hall, for the first time in the history of Sydney, the movement of some streets was stopped. The parade in police skirting attracted the attention of many Sydneysiders.

The Chief Minister of Sydney New South Wales state Chris Minns participated in the festival for the first time. Chief Minister Minns was also attended by the leader of the opposition Liberal Party, Mark Speakman. New South Wales Multicultural Minister Steve Kamper also participated in the Nepal Festival.

Chief Minister Mins said that he was happy to participate in the Nepal Festival, which had thousands of participants. “What is unity and harmony should be learned from the Nepalese,” he said.

Nepali artists from Australia as well as X Band, Aastha Raut and Hemant Sharma provided musical entertainment to make the program entertaining. Anil Pokharel, president of NRNA Australia, said that the Nepal Festival has played a role in connecting the Nepalis here.

Nepali food, businesses run by Nepalis and Australian professional organizations participated in the festival which lasted from 10 am to 10 pm. Nepal House became the main center of attraction in the festival, where statues of Kathmandu’s Dharahara, Pashupatinath Temple, Buddhist Stupa etc. were installed.
