Kathmandu. The ‘Birtamode Tourism and Film Festival’ organized by the Koshi branch of Nepal Cinematographers Association has been completed. The festival was held for a week at Dharmakanta Road, Birtamod Municipality-5, Jhapa.
The fair and musical program organized by Tamang Ghedung Birtamod City Committee is still the same. The festival started on November 3 and ended on the 9th.
In the closing ceremony, 5 senior artists of Koshi region were honored. Prem Subba, Hemant Budhathoki, Vijay Kerung, Keshav Rayamazhi and Bipin Prasain are among those honored.
A campaign workshop was conducted at the festival. 30 people from Jhapa participated in the workshop. Actor Manish Raut of ‘Prem Geet 3’ and ‘Khajure Bro’ taught the art of acting to the participants.
At the festival, 7 feature films produced in Koshi province and featuring local actors were screened. They were Mangena, Vanar Sena, Lilame Maila, Nalapani, Krishnaleela, Bihepas and Chardam.
The makers of these films were felicitated at the closing ceremony. The chairman of the organizing organization, Keval Tamang, said that through the festival, efforts have been made to promote the cinema of Koshi province by linking it with tourism.
Subas Meche, senior vice president of the association, said that the festival has contributed to increase the importance of film and tourism in Jhapa district. The organizers said that the festival has helped to highlight the cultural and artistic identity of the province.
