Kathmandu. The short film ‘Dashain Ayo’ directed by Shilpa KC has won the first place in the short film competition organized by Oscar College of Film Studies.
Along with the win, the film won a cash prize of 1 lakh. Arjun Tiruva’s ‘The Bridge’ and Vishal Jha’s ‘Antim Yatra’ bagged the second and third positions respectively. The second won Rs 50,000 and the third won Rs 25,000 in cash.
Devanandan Mandal’s ‘Paper Bonds’ was declared a special mansion. Before the announcement of the winners, 9 short films that made it to the final selection of the competition were screened.
The deadline for sending films of 8 to 15 minutes to the participants in the competition targeted at the age group below 20 years was fixed till the first week of last October.
The principal of the college, Ramraja Dahal, said that more than 20 films were received for the competition and the final 9 were selected. He said that this competition was continued in order to provide special opportunities to emerging talents in film production.
He said, ‘Film is a very creative genre and since the minds of young people are creative, we have taken the initiative to support them by holding a youth-oriented film production competition.’
According to the college, filmmakers who are successful in the first, second, third and special mansions will also get a 50% scholarship if they want to join the college.
