‘Kandara band wants to connect music and literature’

Kathmandu. Vivek Shrestha, the lead singer of the popular musical group Kandara, has said that music and literature need to go hand in hand. The pop star spoke about the combination of music and literature at a ceremony held on Sunday to announce the winner of the Bahrakhari Katha competition.

Stating that music is connected with literature, he opined that it is necessary to associate music with literature. ‘Music does not happen only by adding literature. I have seen that there should also be association,’ he said.

He emphasizes that literature should be presented in a simple way and brought to music. He said that Kandara Band is ready to cooperate with Sahityakar. The band has also collaborated with some famous writers including Sarubhakta in their hit songs.

Earlier, in an interview with Online Khabar, singer Shrestha emphasized on the combination of music and literature. He recently expressed his concern that literature has been lost in Nepali music.

This popular folk rock band is currently in a nationwide musical frenzy. He has completed two grand concerts in Pokhara and Kathmandu. There are plans to tour Nepalgunj, Butwal and Chitwan. The band is planning to go on a world tour from January 1.
