Kathmandu. Netflix’s much-awaited and popular show ‘Squid Game’ has been grandly premiered in Seoul, the capital of South Korea on Monday. The much-anticipated show premiered in the wake of President Yoon Suk Yeol’s failed attempt to impose military rule.

The story of the second season of ‘Squid Game’ is also based on a dystopian story that presents the South Korean view of a divided society. The show is based on a violent storyline that portrays a story of division and inequality. After ‘Parasite’ and ‘K-Pop’, ‘Squid Game’ is considered as a means of spreading South Korea’s cultural power.

The writer and director of both seasons of the show, Hwang Dong-hyuk, speaking at the premiere ceremony, said that he was shocked by the events in the country. “What has happened in my country has made my heart heavy”, he said, “It is very unfortunate and terrible.” The whole nation cannot sleep because of such an absurd situation.’

South Koreans said they had to take to the streets due to political chaos. “Koreans have to spend the end of the year full of anxiety, fear and indifference,” he said.

Season 2 of ‘Squid Game’ will see a lot of new actors. A ‘crypto expert’ who is burdened with debt and a transgender character who can’t afford surgery. Actor Lee-Jung Jae plays the role of Seong-Gi Hoon, the main character of the show, and he is back in the game.

The second season begins with the story of Gi-Hoon returning to the game three years after winning the game. Its story is about his struggle to make the organization responsible for organizing the game of life and death. The first part, which was released in 2021, was an important aspect for the South Korean wave called Hallyu.

The second season of Squid Game will be streaming on Netflix from 26 December.
