Kathmandu. The film ‘Shambala’ recommended from Nepal has been eliminated from the race for the 97th Oscar Awards. According to Nepali time, on Wednesday morning, the Academy of Arts and Sciences has announced the shortlist nominations in 10 categories including international features.
85 films, including the Nepali film directed by Meen Bahadur Bham, competed in the international feature category. Looking at the list of shortlists, Asia has been shocked this time. In the shortlist, only the Thai film ‘How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies’ has been selected from Asia.
India’s official recommendation film ‘Lapata Ladies’ was also out of the competition. The Chinese film could not be qualified in the initial selection. No film from South Korea, Japan and West Asian countries was selected in this category this time. Asia’s shortlist looks disappointing.
Many people were optimistic that Nepal’s ‘Shambala’, which was selected in Berlin to make history, would be nominated for the shortlist. This time too, Nepal’s Oscar race has become disappointing. The shortlist includes 15 films. Also, the nomination announcement of the last 5 films will be announced on January 17.
