Kathmandu. The name of the new film of director Christopher Nolan, who won the Oscar award as the best director last year for Oppenheimer, has been decided as ‘The Odyssey’.
The film is based on the famous poem ‘The Odyssey’ by Homer, a great Greek writer, which was written in the 8th century BC. The film will be shot in different locations around the world using IMAX technology. Hollywood Studio Universal has announced about this film on Tuesday.
The film is slated to release on July 17, 2026. This poem is a world famous work written by the Greek poet Homer. It tells the story of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, who faced many hardships on his journey home after the Trojan War.
Odysseus faces many dangers on this journey, famously including the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the sorceress Circe. The story ends with Odysseus meeting his wife Penelope.
The Odyssey has been adapted for film and television several times before. It was adapted into the 1954 Italian film Ulysses and the 1997 mini-series The Odyssey. Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche were recently seen as Odysseus and Penelope in the film The Return.
Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron will be seen in this new film by Nolan. Filming is expected to begin early next year.
This will be Nolan’s second film for Universal. Earlier, his film ‘Oppenheimer’ left a spell on the audience. This film also achieved success at the Oscars.
