Kathmandu. The year 2025 will be crucial for Bollywood’s three Khan actors Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir. Because all the three actors will turn 60 this year.
First of all, Aamir will turn 60 on March 14. After that, Shahrukh will turn 60 on November 2 and Salman will turn 60 on December 27. These three will rule the box office, but will their stardom be affected after reaching 60 years of age?
Bollywood business analyst Taran Adarsh disagrees. He says, ‘Age is just a number. People know their age and still they are crazy about these stars.’
Taran further says, ‘They are the superstars of the 90s who not only ruled the box office, but also our hearts. They are still relevant today and have changed with time. For example ‘Sikander’. It is clear that Salman is different in this but it has all the elements that the mass audience needs.’
According to Taran, now these three Khans will be seen in mature roles. ‘They can’t run in Switzerland anymore,’ he says, ‘but when you look mature and act your age. You can connect with the audience.’
Another analyst, Atul Mohan, commented that Shahrukh, Salman and Aamir benefited from the audience’s growing attitude towards older heroes.
‘Many things are different now. Earlier, actors who had reached the age of 50 or 55 started playing character roles,’ he says, ‘Shah Rukh’s films have started to run a lot. Even a weak film of Salman earns hundreds of crores of rupees. Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Khanna, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra started playing character roles before turning 60.
He further said, ‘Until good films are made, the audience will not accept them. He also gave examples of South stars who are bigger than Khan and are ruling the box office. Rajinikanth is over 70 years old and earns a lot from his films. Kamal Haasan gave the biggest hit of his career ‘Vikram’ (2022) at this age.
Distributor and exhibitor Raj Vanshal says, ‘It affects their stardom. But apart from Ranbir Kapoor, none of the actors looked strong enough to challenge his stardom. That is why they have been sustaining themselves for so long. Therefore, they are lucky.’
