‘Kanguwa’ in the race for best film at the Oscars from India

Kathmandu. 323 films have been deemed eligible for competition at this year’s Oscars. The Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences has released the list of all the films in the competition of the main category.

In which 207 films have been qualified for competition in the list of the best film category. This time from India, Suriya and Bobby Deol starrer action film ‘Kanguwa’ is also included. Aamir Khan’s ‘Lapata Ladies’ was recommended by the selection committee of the respective country, while ‘Kanguwa’ was sent through the American distributor.

According to Oscar’s rules, if a film is commercially screened in any of the US cities of Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Texas, Atlanta, and Georgia, it is considered eligible for the Oscar’s main category competition. Taking advantage of this, ‘Kanguwa’ took part in the Oscars. Earlier, the Indian film ‘RRR’ was also selected in the same way.

On the other hand, the runtime of feature films should be more than 40 minutes. Voting for the Oscar nominations will begin on Wednesday. Voting will continue till January 12. The nominations will be announced on January 17 and the awards will be distributed on March 2.
