Thaha Kala Kendra is going to hold a festival at Bajrabarahi in Thaha municipality of Makwanpur. Feature films like ‘Pakheta’, ‘Tulki’, ‘Bato’, ‘Lakhe’, ‘Sati Devi’, ‘Modiveni’ and others will be screened at the festival.

In terms of short films, there are ‘Belly’, ‘Interview’, ‘The Rope of Hope’, ‘Direction’, ‘Two hundred rupees’, ‘Khil’ and others. On the documentary side, there are ‘Snow Leopard’, ‘Girls Rewriting Destiny’ and others. In the festival, along with the film exhibition, contemporary topics like ‘Film Review’ and ‘Diversity of Nepali Cinema’ are being discussed.

Known as a tourist destination and culturally rich, Thaha Municipality is a preferred location for film shooting. The festival, which is being organized with the slogan ‘Movies for Tourism’, also aims to connect domestic tourism through films.

Festival coordinator Pramodkrishna Joshi says, ‘Despite being close to cities like Kathmandu and Hetaunda, there is no cinema hall operating in Thaha Municipality so far. That’s why this festival has been organized targeting the audience here who can’t watch movies easily’, he says, ‘Our aim is to make domestic tourism flourish under the pretext of watching movies.’
