Kathmandu. The Film Development Board has distributed identity cards to 97 filmmakers who have contributed to the film industry for more than 20 years. Chairman Dinesh DC presented the identity card at the ceremony organized on Monday.
President DC said that the identity card is an important step to ensure the professional identity, safety, and respect of filmmakers. “This step will formally recognize the professional identity of filmmakers and give them easy access to their rights and facilities,” he said.
Chairman DC said that the aim is to provide legal protection, government services and the opportunity to represent Nepal on the international stage. “We expect that the introduction paper will help in keeping records of the film workers’ data and organize the industry,” he said.
According to the board, the identity card is important for increasing the social respect of filmmakers, facilitating film production and shooting, and participating in social security schemes.
The board believes that since the card is designed with QR, its credibility will increase. Every year, the board has awarded identity cards under the titles of special filmmakers, filmmakers, special filmmakers and honorary filmmakers. In order to get an identity card, filmmakers have to apply at the time the board opens the application.
