Kathmandu. The Oscar nomination announcement program has been moved for the second time. The nomination announcement scheduled for January 17 has been postponed.
Due to the fire spreading in Los Angeles, the new date of the announcement of the Oscar nominations has been set for January 23. Academy President Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang confirmed that the date for the 97th Oscar nominations has been set.
The nomination announcement is planned to be made virtually in the absence of the media. Due to the forest fires in California, the announcement of nominations and voting was stopped earlier.
Oscar issued a statement and said that the scientific and technical awards scheduled for February 18 will not be held. However, the program of Oscar distribution on March 2 has been kept as is.
The fire seems to have disrupted Hollywood’s award season. Programs like Critics’ Choice and Producers Guild Award nomination announcements have been affected. The premiere of the Netflix series ‘Love, Meghan’ has been stopped. This series will premiere on March 4 instead of January 15.
The highest award in world music, the Grammys, is also scheduled for February 2. However, this date will also depend on the condition of the fire. Beyoncé is nominated for the most Grammys this year with 10 categories and Taylor Swift with 6 categories.
In a statement, Grammy also said that it will honor the fire fighters active in extinguishing the fire by raising aid funds for those affected by the fire. “The Grammys will not only celebrate artistry, but also promote the spirit of resilience that defines Los Angeles,” the statement said.
Popstar Beyoncé announced $2.5 million in aid for one and a half million victims. He was also preparing to make a new announcement on January 14, but this too was confused, according to Hollywood media.
So far 24 people have died and 23 are missing in the fire that spread in Los Angeles. More than 10,000 structures have been destroyed and millions have been displaced.
